Information from Reining Canada

Please remember to cast your vote in the upcoming NRHA elections and Bylaw changes. Ballots must be received by midnight September 26 and can be faxed to 918-512-4011. Ballots are available on the NRHA website under the Members Section.

The National Reining Horse Association "NRHA" has worked very diligently since inception to develop, enhance and promote reining within the United States and Internationally. As a result of the commitment to excellence and dedication to the sport, the NRHA created the International Affiliate Program "IAP" in 2006 and Canada along with 13 other countries embraced the program.

The IAP is an integral contributor to the continued growth of reining worldwide and is in jeopardy of being destroyed with one of the proposed Bylaw changes. Reining Canada urges you once again to vote to support this beneficial program and cast you vote AGAINST Bylaw J. Please refer to the August 18, 2007 eNewsletter from Reining Canada on the Reining Canada website for more information.

Congratulations to the Western Canada Affiliate Finalists!

The Canadian Reining Breeders Classic "CRBC" wrapped up on September 15th after awarding more than $123,000.

In addition to the Breeders Classic classes the CRBC was also host to the Western Canada Affiliate Finals. Margaret Fraser aboard Codys Jac Pine slide in to the Champion spot in the NRHA Rookie, earning herself an invitation to the Performance Horse Rookie of the Year Competition at the NRHA Futurity and Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show in Oklahoma City plus a Championship Saddle.

Lisa Lewis aboard Canadas Command Kid finished second with Leah Kemmpainen and Doctor Me Daily and Karen Black and Let It All Hang Out rounding out the final two invitational spots. Other Affiliate winners included Shawna Sapergia aboard Ima Docs High Sign in the NRHA Open and Open Saddle Series garnering them a Bob's Custom Saddle. Tanya Turner and Peppys On Top in the NRHA Non Pro and Non Pro Saddle Series also earning them a Bob's Custom Saddle. Full results are available at www.crbc.ws.

Eastern Affiliate Finals will be held October 26-28, 2007 at Blacks Equine Centre in Hamilton, Ontario.

Congratulations to the first NRHA Million Dollar Owner Canada's own, Lance Griffin.

The first ever NRHA owner to surpass the Million Dollar owner is Canada's own, Lance Griffin. With his stellar performance and Non Pro Futurity win at the CRBC, Mr. Griffin garnered the final $3,000 to push him over the prestigious Million Dollar Mark! Congratulations Lance!

FEI Reining Stewards Course in OKC

The NRHA will be holding an FEI Stewards Course during the NRHA Futurity this fall. Deadline for application is October 29th. For more information on just what a reining steward does, check out the FEI's (Federation Equestre Internationale) guide on the subject. Reining Stewards are used at the international level only. With more international events taking place around Canada, the need is increasing.
