Welcome to the Show Season!

Reining Canada would like to congratulate all the Canadian Riders who made the trek to the NRBC in Katy, Texas this spring! The NRBC was officially the largest gathering of a Category 2 Non Pro event and paid out over a million dollars to the Open and Non Pro Classic Finalists. Highlights include Lance and Samantha Griffin making the Non Pro Finals, Veronica St. Onge for making the Non Pro Intermediate Finals, Geri Greenall for earning a spot in the Limited Non Pro Finals and Andre Bellefeuille and Lance Griffin for earning a spot in the Prime Time Non Pro Finals. In the Open Division Canada was represented by Cody Sapergia, his talented sister Shawna Sapergia, and the 2006 Aaechan Gold Medalist Duane Latimer. Canadian Riders earning a spot in the Intermediate Open Division included Patrice St. Onge and Luke Gagnon. In the Limited Open Division Canadians earning a finalist spot included Lisa Coulter - way to go Finalists!

Bienvenue à la saison de concours 2008!

Reining Canada profite de cette occasion pour féliciter tous les cavaliers canadiens qui se sont tapé le long voyage à Katy (Texas) afin de participer au NRBC ce printemps! Cet événement NRBC fut officiellement la plus importante épreuve Non Pro de catégorie 2 de l’histoire. NRBC a distribué en bourses au-delà d’un million de dollars aux finalistes de la Classique Omnium et Non Pro. Il faut souligner les performances suivantes de la part de Canadien(ne)s : Lance et Samantha Griffin en finale Non Pro, Véronica St-Onge en finale Non Pro Intermédiaire, Geri Greenall pour sa participation à la finale Non Pro Limité et André de Bellefeuille et Lance Griffin en finale Non Pro ‘Prime Time’. Dans la division Omnium, le Canada était représenté par Cody Sapergia, sa sœur Shawna et le médaillé d’or à Aachen 2006, Duane Latimer. Patrice St-Onge et Luc Gagnon ont fait la finale de l’Omnium Intermédiaire tandis que Lisa Coulter fit de même dans l’Omnium Limité. Bravo à tous ces finalistes!

Reining Canada International Updates

Reining Canada would like to remind its members who are interested in International Competitions, that FEI has made a change in its guidelines for team competitions. Each rider that is chosen for any team event must have competed in 2 CRI's with a minimum score of 68. One of the CRI's must be in the rider's own country. The International Committee had a meeting at the 2008 NRBC with as many Canadian riders that could be found to help inform them of upcoming CRI's and potential team events that may be on the horizon. Anyone wishing to be kept abreast of these competitions is asked to send their email address to Reining Canada, which will allow Reining Canada to set up a email list to help keep everyone informed.

Currently, there are 2 CRI's scheduled for Blainville in July and Reining Canada is trying to coordinate a couple in Winnipeg (this has yet to come together). If you wish to compete in the Masters which will be held at the 2008 NRHA Futurity, the FEI rules states the points accumulated at CRI's will allow the top 2 riders to attend. A rider ranking based on a points system will decide the qualification. A rider can start a maximum of 3 horses at each CRI to qualify for Masters points with the highest scoring entry receiving WRM points for that rider. A rider can earn points at all CRIs abroad or in his/her home country. However, in order to be eligible for the Masters a rider must have started in at least one CRI in Canada. The qualification period for the 2008 FEI World Reining Masters Final will be 1 December 2007 until the entry date of the Masters 2008.

If you wish to be eligible for any team events for 2009, you will have to have attended 2 CRI's and had a minimum score of 68. Mises à jour pour le Canada au point de vue international

Reining Canada rappelle à ses membres que FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale) a modifié ses directives pour les compétitions internationales qu'elle régit. Tout concurrent sélectionné pour un événement en équipe, doit avoir participé à au moins deux (2) 'CRI' (concours de reining international) avec un pointage minimum de 68. Au moins un de ces deux 'CRI' doit s'être tenu dans le pays d'origine d'un cavalier. Le comité international s'est réuni lors du NRBC 2008 avec la participation d'un bon nombre de cavaliers d'origine canadienne afin de les informer des 'CRI' à venir et des compétitions possibles par équipe qui pointent à l'horizon. Quiconque désire se tenir au courant de ces compétitions est prié d'envoyer son adresse électronique à Reining Canada qui maintiendra une liste d'envoi d'informations pertinentes.

À l'heure actuelle, il y a deux (2) 'CRI' prévus à Blainville lors du Derby en juillet. De plus, Reining Canada tente actuellement de coordonner une tenue possible de deux autres CRI à Winnipeg. Si une participation au 'Masters' vous intéresse (Futurité NRHA 2008), la FEI stipule que les points accumulés permettront aux deux (2) meilleurs cavaliers d'y participer. Le rang obtenu dans la compilation de cavaliers, basée sur un système de points, est le critère pour la qualification. Un cavalier peut présenter un maximum de trois (3) chevaux lors d'un même 'CRI' afin de se qualifier mais seulement le plus haut pointage sera retenu pour les points 'Masters' qui s'accumulent comme points 'WRM' ('World Reining Masters'). Un cavalier peut accumuler des points à un 'CRI' tenu dans son pays d'origine ou dans un pays étranger. Cependant, l'admissibilité au 'Masters' requiert une participation minimum d'un 'CRI' dans son pays d'origine. La période de qualification pour la finale du '2008 FEI World Reining Masters' débutait le 1er décembre 2007 et se termine à la date d'inscription au 'Masters 2008'.

Si vous désirez être admissible à toute compétition en équipe en 2009, vous vous devez de participer à deux 'CRI' et obtenir des pointages minimums de 68. Chaque compétition FEI comporte des règlements différents. Reining Canada Young Riders

The 2008 Young Rider Team is gearing up for the Young Rider Competition in Parker City, Colorado. Fundraising has begun and Reining Canada has put together an attractive sponsorship program. If you are interested in supporting the Canadian Young Rider Team please Contact Wendy Dyer at moc.liamtoh@74slegig.

Reining Canada is also pleased to announce that Young Rider Classes will be held in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec during 2008 allowing Young Riders further opportunity to participate in this prestigious program. Young Rider Finals will be held concurrent with the NRHA Affiliate Finals in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Blainville, Quebec. The top two riders from each finals plus a third placed rider with the highest individual judge's score from either Finals (as an alternate) will form the 2009 Young Rider Team.

Reining Canada is also excited to announce that levels for obtaining a Young Rider Medal have been lowered for 2008 and are now 50 points for a Bronze, 100 for a Silver and 200 for Gold.

Jeune Cavalier Reining Canada

L'équipe 'Jeune Cavalier 2008' se prépare fébrilement pour le 'Young Rider Competition' qui sera présenté à Parker City (Colorado) en août. Une souscription a été lancée et Reining Canada a mis sur pied un programme attrayant de commandites. Si vous désirez contribuer à cette souscription, veuillez communiquer avec Wendy Dyer au moc.liamtoh@74slegig.

Reining Canada est aussi heureux d'annoncer que des épreuves 'Jeune Cavalier' seront présentées, en 2008, en Colombie Britannique, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario et au Québec. Les finales 'Jeune Cavalier' seront tenues en même temps que les finales des affiliés NRHA à Winnipeg (Manitoba) et Blainville (Québec). Les deux meilleurs concurrents (pointage) de chaque finale et un cavalier réserve ayant réussi le 5e meilleur pointage formeront l'équipe 'Jeune Cavalier 2009'.

Reining Canada est très fier d'annoncer que les standards afin de mériter une médaille 'Jeune Cavalier' ont été baissés pour 2008 et sont maintenant de 50 points pour le bronze, 100 points pour l'argent et 200 points pour la médaille d'or.
